Komla Dogbey ’19 was an outstanding forward on Rhode Island College men's soccer team from 2014-17. He led RIC to a pair of Little East Regular Season Championships and received the John E. Hetherman Award.
Dogbey earned a bachelor's degree in management from Rhode Island College in 2019.
The Providence, R.I. native wrapped up his career as an Anchorman having played in 73 games, starting 68 of them. He totaled 46 goals and 19 assists for 111 career points. Dogbey also tallied 14 game-winning goals during his career. He currently ranks third all-time in career points and is one of only three former players to eclipse the 100-point milestone. Dogbey is also third in goals and tied for seventh in assists.
As a senior in 2017, Dogbey was named Third Team All-New England and First Team All-Little East. He played in 18 games, starting all of them. Dogbey had seven goals and two assists for 16 points. Dogbey was second on the team and fifth in the Little East in scoring on the year. His seven goals also ranked him fifth in the league. He tallied the game-winner in the team’s, 1-0, victory against UMass Dartmouth on Oct. 7 and also netted the game-winner in the club’s, 3-2, win over Plymouth State on Oct. 28 that clinched a share of the LEC Regular Season Championship. Dogbey was named the Little East Offensive Player of the Week once on the season.
As a junior in 2016, Dogbey named First Team All-New England and First Team All-Little East. He played in 18 games, starting all of them. He led the team and was third in the Little East in scoring with 15 goals and eight assists for 38 points on the season. His 15 goals ranked fifth in the LEC, while his eight assists ranked eighth in the league. Dogbey had four multi-goal games, which included a hat trick in a 3-0 shutout win over Worcester State on Oct. 5. The talented forward notched five game-winning goals this season, highlighted by the lone marker in the team’s, 1-0, overtime win against Western Connecticut in the semifinals of the LEC Tournament on Nov. 2. He was named the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week once on the season.
As a sophomore in 2015, he was named Second Team All-Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA), the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Little East selection, while also being named team MVP. He played in 18 games, starting 17 of them. Dogbey finished the season with 16 goals and six assists for 38 points. Dogbey recorded two hat tricks on the season, in a 5-2 victory over Regis on Sept. 12 and in a 6-0 victory over Southern Maine on Oct. 31. He notched a season-best two assists on two occasions. Dogbey recorded a season high seven points (3g, 1a) in a 6-0 victory over Southern Maine on Oct. 31. Dogbey led the Little East in goals (16), points (38) and shots (87). He tied for the league lead with six game-winning goals. His 16 goals tied for eighth-best in a single season in program history. He was named the Little East Offensive Player of the Week once on the season.
As a freshman in 2014, Dogbey was named Second Team All-Little East. He played in 19 games, starting 15 of them. Dogbey finished the season with eight goals and three assists for 19 points. He scored his first collegiate goal in a 9-0 victory over Wheelock on Aug. 30. Dogbey scored two goals, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Curry on Oct. 15. Dogbey was named both the Little East and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week twice on the season.
