
Josh Silva ’09 was a standout defender on Rhode Island College’s men’s soccer team from 2005-08.
Silva helped lead the men’s soccer team to the Little East Tournament Championship and NCAA Div. III Tournament as a senior in 2008. He was a member of RIC’s ECAC Tournament Championship as a freshman in 2005.
The Dartmouth, Mass. native closed out his RIC career having played in 72 games, starting all of them. He totaled five goals and four assists for 14 points, while recording two game-winning markers. Silva served as a team captain from 2006-08.
As a senior in 2008, he was named Third Team All-New England and First Team All-Little East Conference. Silva played in 22 games, starting all of them. He logged one assist for one point. He was selected as the team’s MVP and was named the Little East Defender of the Week once.
As a junior in 2007, he played in 17 games, starting all of them. Silva recorded three goals and three assists for nine points. He netted the game-winning goals in RIC’s, 1-0, win vs. Utica on Sept. 2 and 5-2 decision vs. UMass Boston on Sept. 15. Silva led the club in assists and was second in goals and points.
As a sophomore in 2006, Silva played in 14 games, starting all of them. He registered two goals for four points.
As a freshman in 2005, he played in 19 games, starting all of them.
He is a 2005 graduate of Dartmouth High School where he earned All-State, All-Eastern Massachusetts and All-EAC honors.
Silva earned a bachelor’s degree in justice studies from Rhode Island College in 2009. He earned his M.Ed. from AIC in 2013.
He is currently a middle school English and social studies teacher in the Dartmouth School System. Silva is the Head Boys’ Varsity Soccer Coach at DHS, where the team has two Massachusetts Div. II State Championship semifinal appearances and captured five conference titles.
He was an assistant men’s soccer coach at RIC during the 2012 season.
