Donielle A. Mattoon ’11 starred as a shortstop on the softball team from 2008-11. During her tenure, Rhode Island College won two Little East Regular Season and Tournament Championships, qualified the NCAA Div. III Tournament three times and reached the National Championship Round once.

The Coventry, R.I. native closed out her four-year career as an Anchorwoman having played in 174 games, starting 163 of them. She batted .377 (182-for-483) with 123 runs scored, 182 hits, 33 doubles, 13 triples, 10 home runs, 102 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Mattoon owned a .561 slugging percentage, a .413 on-base percentage and a .942 fielding percentage. In program history, she ranks second in triples and assists (276), third in batting, runs scored, hits, doubles, RBI, and slugging percentage, fourth in home runs and total bases (271), fifth in at-bats (483) and sacrifice flies (5) and 11th in sacrifice hits (16).

As a senior in 2011, Mattoon played in 51 games, starting all of them. She batted .315 (53-for-168) with 26 runs scored, 53 hits, eight doubles, three triples, 28 RBI and three stolen bases. Mattoon owned a .399 slugging percentage, a .350 on-base percentage and a .958 fielding percentage. She was named to the Providence Regional’s All-Tournament Team in the NCAA Tournament.

As a junior in 2010, Mattoon was named Second Team All-Little East and team MVP. Mattoon played in 37 games, starting all of them. She batted .431 with 32 runs scored, 47 hits, 13 doubles, four home runs, 26 RBI and four stolen bases. Mattoon owned a .661 slugging percentage, a .453 on-base percentage and a .938 fielding percentage. She was named the Little East Conference Player of the Week once on the season.

As a sophomore in 2009, Mattoon was named Third Team All-New England as an At-Large selection, Second Team All-Little East and the team MVP. She played in 47 games, starting 46 of them. Mattoon batted .452 with 43 runs scored, 57 hits, six doubles, eight triples, six home runs, 29 RBI, 97 total bases and three stolen bases. She owned a .770 slugging percentage (new program record), a .486 on-base percentage and a .915 fielding percentage. 

As a freshman in 2008, Mattoon played in 39 games, starting 29 games. She batted .313 with 22 runs scored, 25 hits, six doubles, two triples, 19 RBI and five stolen bases. She owned a .438 slugging percentage, a .371 on-base percentage and a .974 fielding percentage.

She was 2007 graduate of Coventry High School. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree in both psychology and biology from Rhode Island College in 2011.
