Gina Calenda HOF Slide

Gina (Calenda) Gruttadauria ’09 was a standout forward on the women’s soccer team from 2004-07.
 
The Warren, R.I. native left RIC having played in 79 games, starting 45 of them. She totaled 32 goals and 18 assists for 82 career points. At the conclusion of her career, Gruttadauria was second all-time at RIC in career goals and points, while ranking third in assists.
 
As a senior in 2007, she played in 20 games, starting six of them. Gruttadauria totaled five goals and four assists for 14 points. She was tied for the team lead in goals, was tied for second in points, while tying for fourth on the club in assists.
 
As a junior in 2006, Gruttadauria was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. She played in 22 games, starting 16 of them. Gruttadauria paced the Anchorwomen with 25 points, while ranking second with nine goals and seven assists.
 
RIC posted a 14-8 overall record in ’06 and reached the semifinals of the Little East Tournament. The 14 wins remains a program record for victories in a season.
 
As a sophomore in 2005, she played in 18 games, starting 13 of them. She was tied for the team lead with seven goals and 18 points while also adding four assists. Gruttadauria was named the Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week once on the season.
 
As a freshman in 2004, Gruttadauria was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. She played in 19 games, starting 10 of them. She had three assists, and led the team in goals with 11, and points, with 25. Her 11 goals and 25 points were new program records for a freshman, surpassing Alexis Bouchard’s 2001 rookie campaign of 10 goals and 23 points. Calenda was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week once on the season.
 
She is a 2004 graduate of Mt. Hope High School where she earned All-State, All-Division and team MVP honors in soccer.
 
Gruttadauria earned a bachelor’s degree in health education from Rhode Island College in 2009.
 
She has been a health teacher at Durfee High School since 2009. Gruttadauria was the Head Girls’ Varsity Soccer Coach from 2011-15 where she led the Hilltoppers two a pair of conference championships.
