Jennifer Cook was an outstanding forward in basketball and a shortstop/outfielder in softball from 1996-00.
The West Warwick, Rhode Island native was a two-time All-Little East selection in softball. She played in 133 career games, starting 128 of them, with 128 hits, 74 runs, 26 doubles, five triples, three home runs, 173 total bases, 53 RBI, 38 walks, a .452 slugging percentage and a .334 batting average. At the conclusion of her career, Cook was second in career hits, while ranking third in career batting average, doubles and RBI.
In basketball, Cook earned All-Little East honors as a senior in 1999-00. She is one of only five players in RIC history with 1,000 or more points (1,129) and 500-plus rebounds (584). She played in 103 games with 1,129 points, 584 rebounds, 154 assists and 159 steals in her career. She averaged 10.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game for her career.
Cook received the Helen M. Murphy Award in 2000 and was named to the College’s All-75th Anniversary Softball Team in 2005.
Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Rhode Island College in 2000. She gradated with general education honors and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
She is currently a teacher at the Horgan Elementary School in West Warwick. Cook coached the Wizard’s softball squad to a Division and State Championship in 2003.
