Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College junior goalkeeper Elhadji Ndoye (Cranston, R.I.), senior defender Ahrian Vasquez (Pawtucket, R.I.) and freshman forward Luizandro Sanches (Pawtucket, R.I.) were recognized by the Little East for their respective performances in a 1-0-1 week for the Anchormen.
Ndoye was named the Little East Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week. It is the second time this season that he has received this award. Ndoye made fives to earn the shutout as RIC battled Plymouth State to a 0-0 deadlock on Sept. 13. For the season, he has played in two games, starting both of them. He is 0-0-2 with one shutout, a 0.50 goals-against average, 12 saves and a .923 save percentage in 180:00 of action.
Vasquez was named the Little East Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Vasquez helped RIC post two shutouts on the week, holding Clark to just two shots on net in a 3-0 win on Sept. 10. He was also instrumental in the club's scoreless draw with Plymouth State on Sept. 13. For the season, he has played in four games, starting all of them. Vasquez has played in 348 of a possible 360 minutes for the Anchormen.
Sanches was named the Little East Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week. He scored two goals, including the game-winner, for his first collegiate points in the victory over the Cougars on Sept. 10. Sanches also recorded a team-best four shots in the tie with Plymouth State on Sept. 13. For the season, he has played in three games, starting all of them. Sanches has two goals for four points.
Head Coach Kyle Froberg's team is 1-0-3 overall and 0-0-1 in the Little East.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Johnson and Wales on Wednesday, Sept. 17 (7 p.m.).
