HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sanches quickly found a scoring chance with a shot on target in the seventh minute, however, Clark's defense stood strong early and denied the opportunity.

• The Cougars committed a costly penalty in the 40th minutes as the Anchormen would rely on Sanches to put it through the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.

• RIC's experienced defense allowed just a pair of shots from Clark's attack as the first half closed with the visitors ahead, 1-0.

• Clark would then fall into the same trap and conceded another penalty, this time in the 63rd minute, as Nunes notched his first career marker.

• Sanches would cap off his scoring debut with another tally, which came in the 86th minute, as RIC capitalized with a counter attack off a Clark corner kick.

• Freshman goalkeeper Shane Merklein (Mullica Hill, N.J.) made a pair of saves and recorded his first collegiate shutout win (1-0-1).
