Box Score Leesburg, Fla.—Senior starter Mike Webb (Pawtucket, RI) fired a four-hitter as the Rhode Island College baseball team kicked off 2020 with an 11-1 win over Fontbonne at Pat Thomas Stadium on Friday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second when RIC loaded the bases with one out. A costly Griffin error allowed both runs to score.
• RIC blew the game open with a seven-run fourth frame, highlighted by a freshman first baseman John Willette (Johnston, RI) grand slam for his first career hit and homer. Junior right fielder Nick D'Ambra (Coventry, RI) also had a two-run single in the inning.
• Rhode Island College tacked on a pair in the sixth when sophomore left fielder Joey Coro (North Providence, RI) knocked in two with a single.
• Webb went unscathed through the first six, allowing just two hits and walking one. Fontbonne senior catcher Chase Jones (Foristell, MO) knocked in the Griffins' only run with an RBI single in the seventh.
BY THE NUMBERS
• Webb fired a complete game for his first win (1-0) and struck out seven.
• Senior third baseman Ray Zincone (West Warwick, RI) went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Coro went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a pair of RBI. D'Ambra went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI.
• Jones and freshman shortstop Thomas Purschke (St. Louis, MO) each went 1-for-3.
• Senior starter John Hughes (Jerseyville, IL) took the loss (1-2), allowing nine runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings of work.
