Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College junior forward Xavier Mendez (Pawtucket, R.I.) was named the Little East Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchormen.

It is the second time this season thant Mendez has received this accolade.

Mendez registered 27 points and 14 rebounds in a 99-92 win over  Eastern Connecticut on Jan. 21. He racked up 17 points, 13 boards, five assists and two steals in an 83-53 win vs. Plymouth State on Jan. 24.

For the season, Mendez has played in 18 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 16.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.0 apg and 1.1 spg.

Head Coach Sam Ferry's team is 10-8 overall and 6-3 in the Little East.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Jan. 28 (7:30 p.m.).
