Oliver Takes Home Two Individual Titles as RIC Places Fourth at Little East Championship

Willimantic, Conn.--Senior Haley Oliver (Coventry, R.I.) earned First Team All-Little East honors in both the 1,500m (4:44.82) and 5,000m (17:58.29) as Rhode Island College finished fourth at the 2026 Little East Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
• The Anchorwomen finished fourth (nine teams) with a team score of  102.0. Southern Maine took home the title with a team score of 159.0.
 
• It marked it first time in program history that the Anchorwomen and Anchormen scored over 100 points at the same championship.
 
THE TOP PERFORMERS
• Oliver also earned Second Team All-Little East honors with a second place finish in the 800m (2:19.92) and finished fourth in the 4x800m relay (10:25.41).

• Freshman Naibel Noriega (Providence, R.I.) earned First Team All-Little East honors with first place finishes in both the 400m (57.28; personal best) and 4x100m relay (48.10; personal best) and earned Second Team All-Little East honors with a second place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:00.99; personal best). Noriega was also a Little East All-Rookie Team honoree in the 400m. She also finished ninth in the 200m (26.54).

• Sophomore Quiana Pezza (Cranston, R.I.) earned First Team All-Little East honors with a first place finish in the 4x100m relay (48.10; personal best), earned Second Team All-East honors with second place finishes in both the 200m (25.63) and 4x400m relay (4:00.99; personal best) and Third Team All-Little East honors with a third place in the 100m (12.43; personal best). She also placed fifth in the triple jump (10.38m) and 10th in the long jump (4.84m).

• Sophomore Bendu Kamara (Pawtucket, R.I.) earned First Team All-Little East honors with a first place finish in the 4x100m relay (48.10; personal best), earned Second Team All-Little East honors with a second place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:00.99; personal best) and earned Third Team All-Little East honors with third place finish in the 200m (26.05; personal best). She also finished eighth in the 100m (12.85).

• Freshman Maire Scanlon (Rocky Hill, Conn.) earned First Team All-Little East honors with a first place finish in the 4x100m relay (48.10; personal best) and finished seventh in the long jump (5.04m).

• Freshman Aaliyah Barbour-Chamblee (Providence, R.I.) earned Second Team All-Little East honors with a second place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:00.99; personal best), finished ninth in the 800m (1:01.19) and 10th in the 200m (26.69).

• Sophomore Funmilayo Mclin (Providence, R.I.) earned Second Team All-Little East honors with a second place finish in the hammer (44.72m; personal best).

THE REST OF THE FIELD
• Sophomore Grace Lane (North Smithfield, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x800m relay (10:25.41) and 12th in the 800m (2:32.27).
 
• Freshman Kathryn Patalano (Riverside, R.I.) finished fourth in the 4x800m relay (10:25.41) and 14th in the 800m (2:33.56).
 
• Freshman Morgan Gonsalves (Dartmouth, Mass.) finished fourth in the 4x800m relay.
 
• Sophomore Taryn Reed (Pascoag, R.I.) finished seventh in the hammer (42.58m; personal best).
 
• Freshman Shanna Correia (West Warwick, R.I.) finished eighth in both the triple jump (10.26m) and the high jump (1.47m).
 
• Freshman Zoe Matos (Wakefield, R.I.) finished eighth in the 400m hurdles (1:14.94).
 
• Junior Lexie Zakrzewski (Taunton, Mass.) finished eighth in the 400m (1:00.76) and 13th in the 200m (27.29).
 
• Freshman Stephanie Sican Velez (Providence, R.I.) finished 11th in the 400m (1:04.23).
 
• Junior Shirley Portillo (North Providence, R.I.) finished 11th in the 400m hurdles (1:18.79).
 
• Freshman Tatiana Nyanti (Providence, R.I.) finished 16th in the 200m (29.94).
 
• Sophomore Prudence Chikie-Okeke (Providence, R.I.) finished 18th in both the discus (24.14m) and hammer (34.50m).

• Sophomore Mariangely Rodriguez (Providence, R.I.) finished 19th in the discus (20.39m).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2026 New England Div. III Championship, hosted by Springfield on May 1-2.
