Myrtle Beach, S.C.--Sophomore Bendu Kamara (Pawtucket, R.I.) and freshman Naibel Noriega (Providence, R.I.) each notched personal bests in two events as the Rhode Island College women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2026 Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational held at Myrtle Beach High School on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
• The Anchorwomen finished 15th as a team (29 teams) with a score of 14.0. UConn won the three-day long meet with a score of 147.5.


 
THE TOP PERFORMERS
• Noriega finished fifth in the 4x400m relay (4:01.81), 10th in the 400m (58.67), 12th in the 4x100m relay (48.95; personal best) and 36th in the 200m (25.88; personal best). 
 
• Kamara finished fifth in the 4x400m relay (4:01.81), 12th in the 4x100m relay (48.95), 26th in the 400m (1:01.16; personal best) and 44th in the 200m (26.39; personal best).
 
• Sophomore Quiana Pezza (Cranston, R.I.) finished fifth in the 4x400m relay (4:01.81), 12th in the 4x100m relay (48.95), 16th in the triple jump (10.77m) and 28th in the 200m (25.53; personal bests).

• Freshman Aaliyah Barbour-Chamblee (Providence, R.I.) finished fifth in the 4x400m relay (4:01.81), 12th in the 4x100m relay (48.95), 24th in the 400m (1:00.44) and 53rd in the 200m (26.64).
 
THE REST OF THE FIELD
• Freshman Zoe Matos (Wakefield, R.I.) finished 10th in the high jump (1.43m) and 37th in the 400m (1:04.17).
 
• Senior Haley Oliver (Coventry, R.I.) finished 16th in the 800m (2:26.31).
 
• Freshman Morgan Gonsalves (Dartmouth, Mass.) finished 24th in the 3,000m (12:34.01).
 
• Junior Lexie Zakrzewski (Taunton, Mass.) finished 34th in the 400m (1:03.53).
 
• Junior Prudence Chikie-Okeke (North Smithfield, R.I.) finished 34th in the discus (26.74m) and 43rd in the shot (8.50m).
 
• Sophomore Mariangely Rodriguez (Providence, R.I.) finished 38th in the discus (25.81m).
 
• Sophomore Taryn Reed (Pascoag, R.I.) finished 42nd in the discus (21.77m).

• Freshman Stephanie Sican Velez (Providence, R.I.) finished 76th in the 200m (27.93).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Bryant's Black and Gold Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28.
