Providence, R.I--Rhode Island College sophomore guard Shalyn Smith (Middletown, Conn.) was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Honor Roll Second Team for her performance in the club's, 64-56, win over Easten Connecticut on Feb. 11.

Smith had 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals as the Anchorwomen won for the eighth straight game.

For the season, Smith has played in 23 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 10.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.1 apg and 1.2 spg.

Head Coach Jenna Cosgrove's team is 18-5 overall and 12-2 in the Little East.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at home vs. Western Connecticut on Wednesday, Feb. 18 (5:30 p.m.).
