Springfield, Mass.--Junior Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown, R.I.) finished 13^th (27:35) as the Rhode Island College men's cross country team placed fifth (17 teams) at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
• RIC finished fifth (17 teams) with a team score of 172.0. Endicott College won the invitational with a team score of 60.0.
 
• There were a total of 169 runners at the meet, which was an 8k.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman Owen Schenck (Warren, R.I.) finished 14^th (27:44), which was a new personal-best.
 
• Freshman Scott Pakenham (Portsmouth, R.I.) finished 18^th (27:57).
 
• Freshman Jack McEntee (Foster, R.I.) finished 76^th (31:01).
 
• Sophomore Hussein Niyonkuru (Providence, R.I.) finished 79^th (31:04).
 
• Freshman Jorge Barragan (Providence, R.I.) finished 95^th (31:59).
 
• Sophomore Kensley Cadet (Providence, R.I.) finished 136^th (35:54).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2024 Little East Championship, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 2.
