2022 Rhode Island College Softball Season Summary

Providence, R.I.--Head Coach Mary Holt-Kelsch's team finished the season with a 12-14 overall record and a 6-10 (sixth place tie) mark in the Little East.
 
Senior designated player Katrina Kazen (Warwick, R.I.) closed out her career having played in 81 games, starting 69 of them. She batted .338 (68-for-201) with 33 runs scored, 68 hits, 16 doubles, one triple, 33 RBI and two stolen bases. Kazen owned a .428 slugging percentage, a .430 on-base percentage and a .885 fielding percentage.
 
As a senior in 2022, Kazen played in 26 games, starting all of them. She batted .320 (24-for-75) with seven runs scored, 24 hits, five doubles and seven RBI. Kazen owned a .387 slugging percentage, a .388 on-base percentage and a .900 fielding percentage.
 
As a junior in 2021, Kazen played in 21 games, starting 13 of them. She batted .351 (13-for-37) with six runs scored, 13 hits, four doubles, six RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Kazen owned a .459 slugging percentage, a .500 on-base percentage and an .893 fielding percentage.
 
As a sophomore in 2020, Kazen played in five games, starting four of them. She batted .250 (3-for-12) with three runs scored, three hits, one triple and three RBI. Kazen owned a .417 slugging percentage, a .357 on-base percentage and a .875 fielding percentage.
 
As a freshman in 2019, Kazen played in 29 games, starting in 26 of them. She batted .364 (28-for-77) with 17 runs scored, 28 hits, seven doubles and 17 RBI. Kazen owned a .455 slugging percentage, .443 on-base percentage and .867 fielding percentage.
 
She is a marketing major with a minor in Italian and a 2018 graduate of St. Mary's-Bay View Academy.
 
Junior second baseman Alexis LeBelle (Warwick, R.I.) has an additional year of eligibility remaining, but is graduating. LeBelle closed out her career having played in 42 games, starting 38 of them. She batted .233 (21-for-90) with 13 runs scored, 21 hits, four doubles, five RBI and three stolen bases. LeBelle owned a .278 slugging percentage, a .336 on-base percentage and a .959 fielding percentage.
 
As a junior in 2022, LeBelle played in 24 games, starting 22 of them. She batted .188 (9-for-48) with six runs scored, nine hits and one RBI. LeBelle owned a .188 slugging percentage, a .250 on-base percentage and a .971 fielding percentage.
 
As a sophomore in 2021, LeBelle played in 18 games, starting 16 of them. She batted .286 (12-for-42) with seven runs scored, 12 hits, four doubles, four RBI and three stolen bases. LeBelle owned a .381 slugging percentage, a .418 on-base percentage and a .942 fielding percentage. 
 
She is a biology major and a 2018 graduate of Toll Gate High School. Prior to attending RIC, LeBelle played at the Community College of Rhode Island
 
Junior catcher Alexis Boyce (Wolcott, Conn.) played in 26 games, starting 25 of them. She batted .323 (20-for-62) with nine runs scored, 20 hits, eight doubles, two home runs and eight RBI. Boyce owned a .548 slugging percentage, a .462 on-base percentage and a .961 fielding percentage.
 
Junior outfielder Shannon McDonald (Saunderstown, R.I.) played in 10 games. She had one run scored and one stolen base.
 
Junior third baseman Cassidy Schoen (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) played in 20 games, starting all of them. She batted .305 (18-for-59) with eight runs scored, 18 hits, four doubles, one home run and 13 RBI. Schoen owned a .424 slugging percentage, a .389 on-base percentage and a .925 fielding percentage. 
 
Sophomore first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester Conn.) played in 26 games, starting all of them. She batted .296 (21-for-71) with four runs scored, 21 hits, seven doubles and 10 RBI. Ashe owned a .394 slugging percentage, a .409 on-base percentage and a .966 fielding percentage.
 
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Tatiana Burcy (Boston, Mass.) appeared in 12 games, starting seven of them. She was 4-3 with one save, a 5.04 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 41.2 inning pitched.
 
Sophomore center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) was named First Team All-Region II (Div. III) by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). She was also named First Team All-Little East and Team MVP. Katz played in 24 games, starting all of them. She batted .477 (42-for-88) with 14 runs scored, 42 hits, six doubles, two triples, one home run, 13 RBI and nine stolen bases. Katz owned a .625 slugging percentage, a .495 on-base percentage and a .923 fielding percentage. Her .477 batting average is a new program record for a single season.
 
Freshman outfielder Abby Clesas (Johnston, R.I.) played in 20 games, starting seven of them. She had seven runs scored, one RBI and one stolen base. Clesas owned a .167 on-base percentage and a .833 fielding percentage.
 
Freshman right-handed pitcher Morgan Collupy (Rehoboth, Mass.) appeared in 10 games, starting six of them. She was 2-3 with a 7.07 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 31.2 inning pitched.
 
Freshman shortstop Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.) played in 26 games, starting all of them. She batted .188 (13-for-69) with nine runs scored, 13 hits, one double and seven RBI. Conti owned a .203 slugging percentage, a .243 on-base percentage and a .946 fielding percentage.
 
Freshman right fielder Paige Jones (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) was named to the Little East Softball All-Rookie Team. She played in 26 games, starting all of them. She batted .323 (20-for-62) with 11 runs scored, 20 hits, five doubles, six RBI and one stolen base. Jones owned a .403 slugging percentage, a .432 on-base percentage and a .964 fielding percentage.
 
Freshman right-handed pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) was named to the Little East Softball All-Rookie Team. She appeared in 20 games, starting 13 of them. She was 6-8 with two saves, a 2.38 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 91.1 inning pitched. Kidd earned two Little East Rookie of the Week honors, as well as one Little East Pitcher of the Week distinction. As a hitter, she batted .267 (8-for-30) with seven runs scored, eight hits, one double and seven RBI. Kidd owned a .300 slugging percentage, a .343 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
 
Freshman left fielder Sarah Mickelson (New Milford, Conn.) played in 26 games, starting all of them. She batted .284 (23-for-81) with 11 runs scored, 23 hits, two doubles, nine RBI and one stolen base. Mickelson owned a .309 slugging percentage, a .330 on-base percentage and a .944 fielding percentage.
