Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) earned a pair of wins and hurled two complete games with a 15 combined strikeouts as Rhode Island College closed out the 2025 season with a doubleheader sweep vs. VTSU Castleton at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• Junior second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) scored in the opening inning due to a Spartan fielding error to give the Anchorwomen an early, 1-0, lead.

• The visitors scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning off a single into left field to take the lead, 2-1.

• The Anchorwomen smacked back-to-back homers in the sixth inning as fifth-year third baseman
Victoria Young (Sterling, Conn.) blasted a two-run bomb and sophomore first baseman
Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) followed with a solo shot as RIC surged back into the lead, 4-2.

• Kidd and company would retire three straight batters in the top of the seventh to get the victory. She struck out 10 in the win (10-8).

GAME TWO
• Austin started the game with a sacrifice fly in the first and sophomore catcher
Brianna Bailey (Windsor, Conn.) singled, which brought home a pair of Anchorwomen, as RIC led after one frame, 3-0.

• Castleton tied the game up in the third inning with three runs of its own.
Â
• Simmons punched an RBI single to left field and Austin brought in two more with a single up the middle as RIC continued the three-run inning trend in the fourth to lead, 6-3, going into the fifth.

• A four-run inning in the sixth from the Spartans catapulted them into the lead, 7-6.
Â
• Another Austin RBI double in the bottom half of the sixth knotted the game back up, 7-7, heading into the seventh.

• With runners on first and third with no outs, Young walked it off for the hosts by scoring on a wild pitch.

• Kidd finished the season with an 11-8 record as she struck out five in her final collegiate game.

• The two losses knocked the Spartans out of the upcoming Little East Championship.
