Anchorwomen Fall vs. Eastern Connecticut in Little East Twinbill

Providence, R.I.--Junior second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) went a combined 3-for-7 with a pair of triples and an RBI as Rhode Island College lost a pair of conference games vs. Eastern Connecticut at the Dayna A. Bazar Sports Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• A sacrifice fly from the Warriors in the first inning gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
 
• Both teams went scoreless until the fourth when the visitors accumulated a pair of runs from a solo homer and an RBI groundout.
 
• The Warriors would get their fourth run in the seventh to hold a 4-0 lead.
 
• RIC freshman pinch hitter Jillian Guilfoyle (Derby, Conn.) brought in the lone Anchorwoman run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.

• Senior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) picked up the loss (8-8).
 
GAME TWO
• Junior center fielder Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) singled to center field in the bottom of the first to RIC its first and only lead of the day.
 
• The Warriors tallied three in the third inning to take the lead, which they would not relinquish.
 
• Senior right fielder Sarah Mickelson (New Milford, Conn.) gave the Anchorwomen a run in the fourth, but it was met with five more from the visitors in the fifth and seventh frames.
 
• RIC would get a run back in the bottom half of the seventh with an RBI triple from Simmons.

• Sophomore pitcher Ashleigh von der Linden (Stratham, N.H.) was dealt the loss (8-7).
 
• Sophomore left fielder Melanie Earley (Lumberton, N.J.) went 3-for-7 with a run scored and a pair of doubles.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Roger Williams for a doubleheader on Thursday, May 1 (4 p.m.).
