Washington, D.C.—Freshman designated player Reilly Clancy (Narragansett, RI) went 2-for-3 with a run scored as the Rhode Island College softball team fell, 13-5 (six innings), vs. Frostburg State in a game played at Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior catcher Emma Simmons (Saunderstown, RI) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double. Senior third baseman Cristin Chiaverini (Pawtucket, RI) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single.

• Frostburg scored three times in both the first and second innings to build a 6-0 advantage. The Anchorwomen put three across in the third as Chiaverini singled in a run, junior shortstop Kelsey Burgess (North Providence, RI) chipped in with an RBI groundout and RIC scored on an error.

• The home team quickly put three across in the bottom of the third to increase their advantage to 9-3. Simmons doubled in a run as part of a two-run fourth as RIC climbed within four, 9-5.

• Frostburg plated four in the sixth to end the contest early. RIC senior pitcher Erica Fleming (Sagamore Beach, MA) took the loss (0-1).

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play a doubleheader at Randolph-Macon on Monday, March 11 (2 p.m.).
