Boston, Mass.--Freshman midfielder Dominic Nnadi (Suleja, Nigeria) scored in the final minute as Rhode Island College fell, 2-1, at UMass Boston in Little East men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a first half that saw a combined six shots and one shot on goal, the two teams combined for three goals in the final 43 minutes, including two in the final 90 seconds. 

• Senior John Santos (Brockton, MA) and Nilton de Andrade (Fogo, Cape Verde) each scored for the Beacons who stretched their unbeaten streak to five in a row (4-0-1). 

• UMB senior Raffi DeSouza (Watertown, MA) recorded his first assist of the season. 

• Nnadi made the game interesting very late when he converted a penalty kick with 54 seconds to play to cut the deficit to one goal, 2-1.  

• The first half was full of frustration for both sides, as neither team was able to break down the other's defense and create consistent chances. 

• RIC junior goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, RI) cut out the Beacons' best chance of the half at 17:24, when he raced off his line and blocked de Andrade on a one-on-one chance from 10-yards out. 

• After the intermission, UMass Boston came out firing. 

• The Beacons took the lead at 47:03 off a rare long throw-in goal for the hosts. DeSouza threw a long throw-in in to the box that pinged around, before finding Santos. Santos calmly held off a defender and then laced a low left-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the net. 

• From there the game opened up with both teams creating chances and taking advantage of the increased space in the midfield. 

• Rhode Island College had their best chance to tie the game at 1-1 in the 87th minute, when sophomore defender Roman Davis (Watertown, MA) ripped a free kick just wide of the far post. 

• With the Anchormen pushing bodies forward looking for an equalizer, UMass Boston finally added an insurance goal with 76 seconds left on the clock. De Andrade made a tremendous individual play to dribble through the defense along the far side and then poked the ball through Tashjian's legs at 88:44. 

• Rhode Island College answered back with 54 seconds left, when an Anchorman was taken down in the box and Nnadi ripped a right-footed shot off of UMD goalkeeper Omar Castro-Dreher's (Woonsocket, RI) left hand and in for a 2-1 deficit.

BY THE NUMBERS
• Tashjian made four saves in the loss (6-5-2).

• Castro-Dreher made one save in the win (8-2-2). 

• Mass Boston led the Anchormen in shots, 15-8, shots on goal, 6-2, and in corner kicks, 3-0.

• Rhode Island College's goal in the final minute of play snapped UMass Boston's scoreless streak at 461:39. 

• The two teams combined for 37 fouls and seven yellow cards.
