Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College Head Baseball Coach Cody Kauffman announced the additions of Nick D'Ambra '24, Cam Hamsley and Mike Nauta to his staff as assistant coaches.
 
"I am excited to add all three of the guys to the staff as they will be a great addition to the program," Kauffman said. "They bring a great energy with a ton of success both on the field and in the dugout!"
 
D'Ambra returns to his alma mater after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at the Community College of Rhode Island. The Knights made it to the Regional Championship in each of the last two seasons.
 
"After playing baseball and graduating from Rhode Island College, I'm excited to return to RIC as part of the baseball coaching staff," D'Ambra said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be back around a program that played a big role in my life, this time with a chance to help the next group of student-athletes."
 
He played two years for the Anchormen. As a junior in 2021, D'Ambra was named Third Team All-Little East. He played in 34 games, starting all of them. D'Ambra batted .272 batting (34-for-125) with 33 runs scored, 34 hits, four doubles, four triples, two home runs, 18 RBI and six stolen bases.
 
As a sophomore in 2020 during the Covid-shortened campaign, D'Ambra played in eight games, starting all of them. He batted .323 (10-for-31) with four runs scored, 10 hits, three doubles, two triples and 13 RBI.
 
Prior to joining the Anchormen, D'Ambra co-captained the 2019 CCRI baseball team to the NJCAA World Series, capturing All-Region First Team and Rawlings Gold Glove accolades alongside CCRI Student-Athlete of the Year honors. He earned All-State honors at Coventry High School.
 
In addition to his coaching duties, D'Ambra is a physical education teacher at Ocean Tides.
 
He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and criminal justice from RIC in 2024. D'Ambra earned an associate degree in general studies from the Community College of Rhode Island in 2019.
 
Hamsley was most recently the head coach at Roane State Community College from 2022-26. The squad posts back-to-back 28-win seasons in 2024 and 2025, which were the most wins and best years for the program since 1990 and 1991.
 
 "I recently relocated to Providence for my wife's job and I am grateful to Coach Kauffman for allowing me to continue coaching in the Northeast," Hamsley said. "I have previously served as a head coach at the junior college level and am eager to help develop RIC both on and off the field."
 
Prior to assuming the head coach's duties, Hamsley was assistant coach at Roane State from 2018-21. He was an assistant coach at Pope John Paul II from 2014-17.
 
Hamsley earned a bachelor's degree in health and performance from Austin Peay State in 2014. He earned a master's degree in education from Union in 2017.
 
Nauta joins the RIC staff after working as a StatCast 3D operator for Major League Baseball. He also was a replay operator with the NBA.
 
"I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Rhode Island College baseball program," Nauta said. "This is a place with a strong tradition and a clear vision for where it's headed and I can't wait to get to work with the staff and student-athletes to build on that success."
 
He was a four-year letterwinner at Ithaca as an infielder and outfielder where he batted .300 for his career. He was a member of Bomber teams that won the Liberty League twice, captured a pair of NCAA Regional Championships and made two appearances in the NCAA Super Regional. He was also named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team three times (2021-23).
 
He served as an assistant coach with the Cayuga Lakers and was an instructor at Prospects Baseball Academy (NJ).
 
Nauta earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ithaca in 2023.
