Kody Poplaski (Bradford, R.I.) scored the game-winning goal as Rhode Island College upended Plymouth State, 1-0, to open Little East Conference action for both squads at Arold Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• PSU nearly opened the game with a goal in the first minute, but it clattered off the left post and was sent away by the Anchormen.

• Not too long after, sophomore forward
Alex Ciotti (North Providence, R.I.) posted two shots, one that was saved by the Panther keeper and one that was wide as the score remained deadlocked.

• RIC kept their offensive momentum from the first half into the second frame and kept peppering the Panther defense,

• Poplaski connected on the goal in the 77
th minute with assists from senior midfielder
Alijah Nunes (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) and junior midfielder
Nathan Capelo (Rumford, R.I.).

Elhadji Ndoye (Cranston, R.I.) did the rest and made a pair of saves in the clean sheet for his first shutout win of the season (2-1).
