Laramee Leads Anchormen Past Leopards, 6-2

Providence, R.I.--Freshman pitcher Cameron Laramee (Pascoag, R.I.) racked up eight strikeouts and earned his first collegiate victory as Rhode Island College took down Wentworth, 6-2, at Pontarelli Field on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior right fielder CJ Almagno (North Providence, R.I.) notched a sacrifice flyout in the first, which gave RIC one of its two runs in the frame to open a 2-0 advantage.
 
• Freshman third baseman Jake Novak (Plymouth, Mass.) brought in two runs off a single in the third inning to extend the lead for the hosts, 4-0.
 
• The Anchormen added another in the bottom half of the fourth to make it 5-0 thanks to a sacrifice fly by junior second baseman Aiden Bolwell (Chepachet, R.I.)
 
• Sophomore left fielder George Threats (Cranston, R.I.) smacked an RBI double in the seventh to close out the host's offensive output.
 
• Laramee went seven innings of relief, allowing just two runs on six hits, to pick up the win (1-0).
 
• Threats went 3-for-4 with a run scored, a double and an RBI.
 
• Freshman designated hitter Jace Wolfradt (Pawcatuck, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Babson on Thursday, April 9 (3:30 p.m.).
