Novak Leads Anchormen Past WestConn, 7-3

Danbury, Conn.—Freshman third baseman Jake Novak (Plymouth, Mass.) went 3-for-3 and knocked in the game-winning run as Rhode Island College snapped an 11-game losing streak and picked up its first conference win with a 7-3 decision in game two of a doubleheader vs. Western Connecticut at Westside Field on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC took a 1-0 lead in the second thanks to an RBI double by junior center fielder Eric Wilson (Middletown, Conn.).
 
• The Anchormen increased their lead to 3-0 with an RBI double by freshman designated hitter Jace Wolfradt (Pawcatuck, Conn.) and an RBI single from freshman catcher Brady Zadora (Dayville, Conn.).
 
• The Wolves tied the game with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
 
• Wilson gave the visitors the lead and kickstarted a four-run top of the ninth with an RBI single. Junior shortstop Parker Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) and senior right fielder CJ Almagno (North Providence, R.I.) followed with an RBI single and a two-run single, respectively.
 
• Junior reliever Jake Foster (Lincoln, R.I.) earned the win (1-1).
 
• Zadora went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
