CJ Almagno (North Providence, R.I.) notched his first career home run as Rhode Island College dropped an 8-6 decision vs. Keene State, 8-6, in the Little East opener for both clubs at Pontarelli Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Owls plated four runs in the third frame to get the scoring started.

Sean Gallagher (Warwick, R.I.) brought in one for the Anchormen off a double, then Almagno slugged a three-run blast to right field to tie it, 4-4, in the fourth inning.

• Despite Keene State answering with a pair of runs to take the lead again, 6-4, the hosts battled back as sophomore
George Threats (Cranston, R.I.) and freshman
Jack Dichiaro (Foxboro, Mass.) both posted RBI doubles in the sixth to tie the game once again.

• The visitors broke the 6-6 deadlock with a pair of RBI singles in the top of the ninth to earn the win.
• Gallagher went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.
