Catholic (9-3)
Rhode Island College (1-6)
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• A six-run outburst from the hosts in the second inning set the tone for the Cardinals early.
Â
• However, the hosts committed a throwing error in the third frame, which brought freshman shortstop
Ryan O'Leary (Foxboro, Mass.) to the plate to make it a five-run, 6-1, deficit for the visitors.
Â
• A Gallagher homer in the fifth pulled RIC within four, but more offense in the sixth and seventh stanzas by the Cardinals took the life from the Anchormen.
• Junior pitcher
Casey Williams (Watertown, Mass.) struck out two in the loss (0-2).
