HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior classmates
Daniel Cascio (East Hampton, Conn.) and
Sean Gallagher (Warwick, R.I.) both notched sacrifice flies in the opening frame to give RIC a 2-0 lead.
Â
• Catholic answered back in the bottom half of the fifth with two markers, but then the Anchormen posted two more in the second thanks to a two-run single from Bolwell.
Â
• However, a combined 10 runs in second and third innings from the Cardinals gave them the advantage, 12-4, heading into the fourth stanza.
Â
• Despite accumulating baserunners throughout the later innings, the Anchormen struggled converting them into runs as Catholic cruised to a win.
Â
• Freshman shortstop
Ryan O'Leary (Foxboro, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
• Freshman pitcher
Ruben Cortorreal (Cranston, R.I.) suffered the loss (0-1).
