2024-25 Rhode Island College Men's Basketball Season Summary

Providence, R.I.— Head Coach Sam Ferry guided the Anchormen to a 16-11 overall record and a 10-6 (third place) mark in the Little East. 

No. 3-seeded RIC defeated No. 6-seeded UMass Dartmouth, 80-64, in first round action of the 2025 Little East Men's Basketball Championship on Feb. 25. The Anchormen saw their season come to an end with an 61-81 loss in overtime at No. 2-seeded Western Connecticut State on Feb. 27. 

Fifth-year forward Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) closed out his career having played in 107 games, starting 103 of them. He totaled 1,401 points, 1,390 rebounds, 92 assists, 200 blocks and 79 steals for his career. Kourouma averaged 13.1 ppg, 13.0 rpg, 0.86 apg, 1.9 bpg and 0.74 spg.

As a fifth-year in 2024-25, Kourouma was named the Little East Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Little East and to the league's All-Defensive Team. He played in 25 games, starting all of them. Kourouma averaged 18.4 ppg, 15.8 rpg and 1.6 apg. He reached double figures in points 22 times and grabbed 10 or more rebounds on 22 occasions. He racked up 21 double-doubles on the season. Kourouma totaled 35 points, 18 rebounds, including his 1,000th career rebound, and two blocks in a 73-71 loss to Worcester State on Nov. 8. He had 31 points, including his 1,000th career point, 13 rebounds and three blocks in a 79-69 win over Johnson and Wales on Nov. 13. Kourouma had 32 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks in a 93-91 win over Bridgewater State on Nov. 24. He was named the Little East Offensive Player of the Week four times on the season.

As a senior in 2023-24, Kourouma was named First Team All-Little East and to the league's All-Defensive team, while also being named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Second Team All-District squad. He played in 26 games, starting 25 of them. Kourouma averaged 14.2 ppg, 13.9 rpg, 1.3 bpg, 0.7 apg and 0.8 spg. He reached double figure in points in 22 games and grabbed 10 or more rebounds on 24 occasions. Kourouma racked up 21 double-doubles on the season. He scored 34 points and grabbed 23 rebounds in an 80-70 setback to Keene State on Jan. 13. Kourouma registered 19 points, 20 rebounds and three blocks in a 64-50 loss at UMass Boston on Jan. 27. He racked up 16 points, 10 boards and four blocks in an 85-72 win over Bridgewater State on Nov. 26. Kourouma was named the Little East Player of the Week once on the season.

As a junior in 2022-23, Kourouma was named Second Team All-Little East and to the league's All-Defensive Team. He played in 23 games, starting 21 of them. He averaged 13.5 ppg, 12.5 rpg and 2.4 bpg. Kourouma registered double-digits in points on 18 occasions and posted 17 double-digit rebound performances. He scored 10 or more points in 10 straight games to end the season and amassed a total of 15 double-doubles. Kourouma pulled down 24 rebounds to go along with 13 points and a pair of blocks in a season-opening, 73-69, win against Rivier on Nov. 8. He had 19 points, 20 rebounds and seven blocks in a 74-67 loss to MIT on Nov. 10. Kourouma ended the season with a 26-point, 16-rebound performance in a 78-75 OT loss at Plymouth State on Feb. 18.

As a sophomore in 2021-22, Kourouma played in 26 games, starting 25 of them. He averaged 7.9 ppg, 10.8 rpg and 1.8 bpg. Kourouma notched eight double-doubles on the season. He reached double-digits in rebounds 18 times and scored in double-figures on 11 occasions. Kourouma had 16 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks in an 81-68 win vs. MIT on Nov. 6. He registered a career-high 22 rebounds with 11 points and three blocks in an 84-64 victory vs. Castleton on Dec. 4. Kourouma registered 10 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high seven blocks in an 89-76 win vs. UMass Boston on Dec. 18.

As a freshman in 2020-21, Kourouma played in seven games, starting all of them. He averaged 7.7 ppg and 9.4 rpg. Kourouma registered a season-best 12 points to go along with 13 rebounds, two assists and four blocks in a 93-89 loss at UMass Dartmouth in the semifinals of the Little East Championship on Mar. 1. He grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds in a 77-70 loss against UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 10.

He is a business major and a 2020 graduate of Woonsocket High School.

Senior guard Dwayne Robinson-O'Hagan (Woonsocket, R.I.) was named Second Team All-Little East. He played in 26 games, starting 25 of them. Robinson-O'Hagan averaged 15.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg and 3.5 apg. He reached double figures in points 18 times. Robinson-O'Hagan had 32 points, two rebounds, six assists and one steal in a 75-61 win over Eastern Connecticut on Jan. 22. Robinson-O'Hagan registered 30 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in an 82-65 win over MIT on Nov. 16. 

He is a sociology major and a 2019 graduate of Woonsocket High School.

Senior guard Deyshawn Tengbeh (East Providence, R.I) closed out his career having played in 102 games, starting 71 of them. He totaled 1,046 points, 549 rebounds, 179 assists, 65 blocks and 178 steals in his career. Tengbeh averaged 10.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 0.64 bpg and 1.7 spg.

As a senior in 2024-25, Tengbeh played in 27 games, starting 18 of them. Tengbeh averaged 9.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.6 apg and 1.2 spg. He reached double figures in points 10 times. Tengbeh totaled 26 points, including his 1,000th career point, six assists, nine rebounds and two steals in a 79-74 win over Plymouth State on Feb. 8. He had 21 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals in a 98-87 win over VTSU Castleton on Jan. 25.

As a junior in 2023-24, Tengbeh played in 27 games, starting 25 of them. He averaged 11.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.8 spg and 0.9 bpg. Tengbeh scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 74-65 win over Amherst on Nov. 28. He had 15 points, seven rebounds and seven steals in a 71-66 win over Regis on Nov. 14. Tengbeh racked up 18 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in the Little East Championship first round, 73-70, win over Southern Maine on Feb. 20.

As a sophomore in 2019-20, Tengbeh played in 23 games, starting three of them. He averaged 5.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 1.7 spg. He scored a season-best 25 points and dished out four assists in a 101-77 victory over Elms on Nov. 21. Tengbeh scored 15 points in a 64-52 win over Castleton on Jan. 4. He recorded a season-best 10 rebounds in a 92-68 win at St. Joseph's (CT) on Nov. 16. Tengbeh swiped a season-best four steals on four occasions this season.

As a freshman in 2018-19, Tengbeh played in 25 games, starting all of them. He averaged 14.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.7 apg and 2.3 spg. He reached double figures in scoring 20 times on the season. Tengbeh scored a season-high 25 points, to go along with eight boards and four steals, in a 75-65 win over Pine Manor on Nov. 18. He had nine boards and 18 points in a 67-57 win over the University of Saint Joseph on Nov. 25. Tengbeh had four assists in a game on three occasions. He had five steals in a 74-35 win over Castleton on Jan. 16. Tengbeh was named the Little East Rookie of the Week twice on the season.

He is a sociology major and a 2018 graduate of East Providence High School.

Junior guard Loudon Chupas (Colchester, Conn.) played in 27 games, starting all of them. Chupas averaged 8.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 1.1 apg. He reached double figures in points 12 times. Chupas had 20 points, two assists and one rebound in a 101-87 loss at Keene State on Jan. 18. He had 18 points, nine rebounds and two assists in an 86-79 win over Fitchburg State on Jan. 16. 

Junior guard Isaiah Dahl (Cornelius, Ore.) played in 23 games, starting nine of them. Dahl averaged 7.9 ppg, 1.7 rpg and 0.7 apg. He reached double figures in points six times. Dahl had 25 points and two rebounds in a 79-74 win over Plymouth State on Feb. 8. He totaled 23 points, two assists and one steal in an 82-65 win over MIT on Nov. 16. 

Sophomore guard Elijah Diallo (Pascoag, R.I.) played in six games. 

Sophomore guard Cory Johnny (Providence, R.I.) played in six games. 

Sophomore guard Rasheed Louis (Cranston, R.I) played in four games, starting one of them. Louis averaged 0.8 points. He had three points in a 79-52 loss vs. Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 19. 

Sophomore guard/forward Xavier Mendez (Pawtucket, R.I.) played in 26 games, starting five of them. Mendez averaged 9.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 1.2 apg. He reached double figures in points 10 times and grabbed 10 or more rebounds seven times. He racked up six double-doubles. Mendez had 25 points, 14 rebounds and one steal in a 71-69 win over WestConn on Jan. 14. He had 22 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, three blocks and two steals in a 79-52 loss vs. Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 19. 

Sophomore guard Mike Paquette (Cranston, R.I) played in 23 games. He averaged 0.7 ppg, 1.1 rpg and 0.3 apg. Paquette had six points and three rebounds in an 86-79 win over Fitchburg State on Jan. 16. 

Sophomore guard Cameron Wilson (Bear, Del.) played in 16 games. He averaged 4.5 ppg, 2.7 rpg and 1.2 apg. Wilson reached double figures in points twice. He had 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal in a 76-69 win over Connecticut College on Dec. 19. Wilson registered 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one block and a steal in n 81-68 loss at WestConn on Feb. 27.

Sophomore guard CJ Wilson (Hartford, Conn.) played in 26 games, starting 25 of them. He averaged 5.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 3.7 apg. Wilson reached double figures in points twice. He had 21 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal in an 87-85 win over UMass Dartmouth on Jan. 8. Wilson posted five points, nine rebounds, five assists and one steal in an 84-80 win vs. Southern Maine on Dec. 11.

Freshman guard Jalen Claude (New Haven, Conn.) played in 26 games. He averaged 1.8 ppg, 0.4 rpg and 0.3 apg. Claude had 13 points, one rebound, one block and three steals in a 98-87 win over VTSU Castleton on Jan. 25. He had eight points and a board in a 79-74 win at Plymouth State on Feb. 8.

Freshman forward Manny Ibidapo (Pawtucket, R.I.) played in 11 games. He posted two points and a rebound in a 79-52 loss at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 19.

Freshman guard Daniel Saulsby (Pawtucket, R.I.) played in three games.
