Anchormen Open '25-26 With, 91-81, Win Over the Bison

Dudley, Mass.--Freshman guard Noe Bom (Hamburg, Germany) scored 22 points in his collegiate debut as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season with a 91-81 win vs. Nichols at the Nichols Athletic Center on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Nichols got off to a great shooting start in the first half, but the Anchormen rallied behind senior guard Tyriek Weeks' (Warwick, R.I) 10 points to trail by just one, 36-35, at halftime.
 
• RIC would take the lead not long after the start of the second half, and led by nine, 49-40, after Bom drilled a three-pointer with 16 minutes remaining.
 
• The Anchormen never looked back as their lead catapulted to 20, 79-59, after a pair of free throws by Weeks with six minutes to go.
 
• Weeks registered 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the victory.

• Junior forward Xavier Mendez (Pawtucket, R.I) finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Worcester State on Tuesday, Nov. 11 (1 p.m.).
