Murray's Complete Game Shutout Lifts Anchormen Past UMass Boston at Little East Championship

Keene, N.H.—Fifth-year pitcher Terry Murray (Norfolk, Mass.) fired a complete game six-hitter with eight strikeouts as No. 5-seeded Rhode Island College shut out No. 2-seeded UMass Boston, 7-0, in game two of the 2025 Little East Baseball Championship, hosted by Keene State on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sophomore second baseman Parker Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) started the scoring with an RBI single and fifth-year right fielder Justin Wardwell (Westport, Mass.) followed with a two-run double to put the Anchormen ahead, 3-0, in the top of the first.
 
• Junior left fielder Daniel Cascio (East Hampton, Conn.) blasted a two-run homer in the third inning as RIC built on its momentum to extend the lead to five, 5-0.
 
• RIC continued the offensive dominance when fifth-year Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) singled, which brought in a run, during the top half of the fifth.
 
• The Anchormen capped off their hitting display with an RBI single from junior center fielder Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.) to take a 7-0 lead heading into the ninth.
 
• Wardwell went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a double. Cascio went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and three runs scored.
 
• The Anchormen were swept by UMass Boston in the two club's regular season meetings on April 19 with the Beacons outscoring the Anchormen, 22-2, in the twinbill.

In upcoming action, No. 5 Rhode Island College advances to face the winner of game three (No. 4 Southern Maine vs. No. 3 Eastern Connecticut) in game six on Thursday, May 8 (2 p.m.).
