Purchase, N.Y.--Junior attacker Claire Greene (Storrs, Conn.) tallied six goals and two assists for eight points to go along with nine ground balls Rhode Island College defeated Purchase, 17-1, on Sunday afternoon for the club's first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen got off to a quick start as sophomore attack Livia Sweeney (North Kingstown (R.I.) scored within the first 30 seconds, which catapulted RIC to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.
 
• The visitors posted seven more goals in the second frame, led by three strikes from Greene and a pair by senior midfielder Maggie Schwab (Saunderstown, R.I.).
 
• Sophomore attacker Ashley Drury (Foster, R.I.) scored her first career goal to cap off a dominant first half.
 
• Purchase scored its lone goal and Greene potted two in the third stanza.
 
• Sophomore goalkeeper Giana Franco (Salem, Conn.) picked up the win (1-4), making two saves in the first half.

• Freshman midfielder Brie Macaruso (Ashaway, R.I.) led the team with 10 ground balls, while Greene picked up nine.
 
• Schwab, Drury, senior attacker Nicolle Rosales (New Bedford, Mass.) and senior midfielder Hannah Marley (Tiverton, R.I.) all scored twice in the win.
 
• The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Anchorwomen, dating back to a 12-3 win over Purchase on April 8, 2024.
 
• Purchase is 1-29 in its last 30 games.
