RIC Splits Season Series With UMass Dartmouth

Dartmouth, Mass.-- Senior first baseman Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles as Rhode Island College fell at UMass Dartmouth, 6-4, in Little East baseball action played at the UMass Dartmouth Baseball Field on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trzepacz and fifth-year third baseman Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) are now tied in total career hits as Anchormen (215 each) and are one away from tying the program record (216).
 
• Senior designated hitter Lucas Pierce (Chepachet, R.I.) singled in a run to open the game in the first inning. However, a Corsair double in the second put the hosts on top, 2-1.
 
• Two more from UMD runs in the fifth inning boosted the host's lead, 4-1.
 
• Fifth-year shortstop Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) gave the Anchormen their second marker with a sacrifice fly, cutting the RIC deficit in half, 4-2, in the sixth inning.
 
• The Corsairs drove in two runs in the eighth. RIC tried a comeback in the top of the ninth, scoring two on a pair of errors, but the Corsairs were able to close out the visitors to split the season series.
 
• Fifth-year pitcher Samuel Gray (Rockland, Mass.) was handed the defeat (2-5).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will close out the conference slate with a pivotal Little East twinbill at Castleton on Friday, May 2 (noon).
