RIC Falls at No. 15 Salve Regina

Newport, R.I.--Fifth-year third baseman Cal Parrillo (Greenville, R.I.) went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored as Rhode Island College fell at No. 15 Salve Regina, 15-10, at Reynolds Field on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior first baseman Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) continued his hot bat and started the game off with an RBI double. Parrillo followed him with a sacrifice fly to give the Anchormen a 2-0 lead after the top of the first.
 
• The Seahawks put up four runs in the first two innings to quickly turn a deficit into a lead and went into the third up by a pair, 4-2.
 
• Another run in the third gave the Anchormen some life, which was quickly taken away by SRU with a four-run bottom of the third to make it a five run game, 8-3.
 
• RIC scored on an error and Parrillo drove in a pair as RIC climbed within a run, 8-7, in the top of the fourth
 
• Five more Seahawk runs in the fifth put the contest out of reach.

• Sophomore pitcher Matt Parella (Bristol, R.I.) was handed the loss (0-1).
 
• RIC issued 10 walks and 10 hit batsmen in the setback.
 
• Trzepacz went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play with a doubleheader at UMass Boston on Saturday, April 19 (noon).
