Valiants Take Game One, 6-2, Over Anchormen

Myrtle Beach, S.C.—Junior catcher Sean Gallagher (Warwick, R.I.) went 1-for-3 with an RBI as Rhode Island College lost, 6-2, vs. Manhattanville in the first game of a doubleheader played at Ebbets Field during the Ripken Experience on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a clean top of the first from Manhattanville, the Valiants put four runs on the board in the second half of the inning, which would set the tone for the rest of the game.
 
• The hosts kept the bats going in the third inning and plated two more runs on four hits.
 
• Sophomore second baseman Parker Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) recorded the first Anchormen hit of the game in the fourth inning, which extended his hit streak to five straight games.
 
• Junior left fielder Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.) scored on an error in the fifth as RIC tried to mount a comeback.

• Gallagher notched an RBI single in the final inning, bringing fifth-year shortstop Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) to the plate, but would be the last offensive contribution for the Anchormen.
 
• Rivera went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
 
• Senior starter Liam Dailey (Franklin, Mass.) took the loss (0-1). He allowed two earned runs and struck out four in four innings of work.
