Anchormen Send Five to NEICAAA Championship

Boston, Mass.--Junior Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) and sophomore Gabriel Dosunmu (Providence, R.I.) each earned All-NEICAAA honors as Rhode Island College concluded the first day of action at the 2025 NEICAAA Men's Track and Field Championship, held at The Reggie Lewis Center on Friday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
• The Anchormen are currently tied for fifth (18 teams) with a team score of 10.0. The University of Rhode Island is currently in first place with a team score of 50.50.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Mota earned All-NEICAAA honors with a fourth place finish in the weight throw (16.99m).
 
• Dosunmu earned All-NEICAAA honors with a fourth place finish in the long jump (6.96m).
 
• Sophomore Will Schiller (Smithfield, R.I.) finished eighth in the 400m preliminaries and qualified for a spot in the finals tomorrow. He also placed 21st in the 200m (23.33).
 
• Freshman Owen Schenck (Warren, R.I.) finished eighth in the 800m (1:56.55) preliminaries and qualified for a spot in the finals tomorrow.
 
• Junior Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown, R.I.) finished ninth in the 1,000m (2:38.49) preliminaries.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete in the second day of action at the 2025 NEICAAA Championship, held at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday, March 8.
