Lucas Pierce (Chepachet, R.I.) continued his torrid hitting pace, going 3-for-7 with three runs scored, two home runs and four RBI as Rhode Island College crushed Penn State York, 17-6, at the Ripken Experience on Wednesday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• A solo blast by Pierce in the top of the sixth inning snapped a 1-1 deadlock and proved to be the game-winning run.
• The Anchormen bats erupted for 15 runs over the next three innings, including six in the seventh and seven in the ninth, to bury the hosts.
• Pierce notched an RBI single in seventh and a two-run homer in the eighth.
• Junior left fielder
Daniel Cascio (East Hampton, Conn.) was one of three Anchormen with three hits on the day, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and two walks.
• Freshman pitcher
Ben Nowinski (Barrington, R.I.) notched his first collegiate win (1-0), hurling seven innings and allowing just one unearned run on five hits to go along with five strikeouts.
