Anchormen Edged by UMass Boston, 84-79

Providence, R.I.--Senior guard Dwayne Robinson-O'Hagan (Woonsocket, R.I.) netted 28 points and dished out six assists as Rhode Island College fell vs. UMass Boston, 84-79, in Little East action played at the Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Rhode Island College 84, UMass Boston 79
UMass Boston (10-9, 5-6 LEC)
Rhode Island College (13-7, 8-3 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Beacons controlled the first 10 minutes of play and held an eight-point lead, 20-12, before sophomore forward Xavier Mendez (Pawtucket, R.I.) rattled in a three to cut the deficit down to five, 20-15.

• However, RIC would trail by six, 37-31, going into the locker room as UMass Boston's 60 percent shooting from beyond the three-point arc and the Anchormen's seven turnovers told the first half story.

• Nine minutes into the second half, a Mendez layup gave the hosts a one-point lead, 54-53, the team's first lead since the 13:13 mark of the first half where they led, 11-10.

• The Anchormen were unable to hold the lead as the Beacons came up with big defensive stops down the stretch, forcing a missed shot on a potential game-tying three with three seconds left.

• Fifth-year forward Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) finished with 13 points and a game-high 19 rebounds. He was presented with his 1,000th career point and rebound ball prior to the game.
