Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College junior guard Xavier Mendez (Pawtucket, R.I.) and freshman guard Noe Bom (Hamburg, Germany) were recognized by the Little East for their respective performances in an 85-64 loss at Connecticut College on Dec. 19.
Mendez was named the Little East Men's Basketball Player of the Week. He shot 8-for-16 from the field and registered 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists and a steal in the game vs. the Camels. Mendez has played in 11 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 17.8 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.0 apg and 1.5 spg.
Bom was named the Little East Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week. It is the fifth time this season that Bom has earned this award. He finished with 11 points, two boards, three assists in a steal at CC. Bom has played in 10 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 15.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.6 apg and 1.0 spg.
Head Coach Sam Ferry's team is 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the Little East.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play at Southern Maine on Tuesday, Jan. 6 (7:30 p.m.).
