Providence, R.I.--Senior midfielder Tayshia Cary (Wakefield, R.I.) notched an assist and scored the game-winner as Rhode Island College escaped Lesley, 2-1, at Alumni Stadium on Monday evening.

THE BASICS
Rhode Island College 2, Lesley 1
Rhode Island College (8-2)
Lesley (4-3-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen found a seam through the Lynx defense in the 22nd minute as a cross from Cary into the box found the feet of classmate forward Cami Weekly (Burrillville, R.I.) for her second goal in as many games.

• Seven minutes later, freshman midfielder Bryn Williams (Hope, R.I.) and junior forward Amber Almeida (Sturbridge, Mass.) linked up to find Cary as she scored what proved to be the game-winner.

• From that point on, Lesley turned up the pressure on the RIC defense and pulled within one, 2-1, in the 32nd minute.

• Neither team really controlled the pace at the start of the second half until sophomore midfielder Hannah Rezendes (Bristol, R.I.) had her shot saved in the 69th minute.

• The Lynx nearly equalized in the 89th minute after a pair of shots missed, with one ringing off the post and out.

• Freshman goalkeeper Oceanna Orlandi (East Greenwich, R.I.) made three saves in the win (6-2).

• RIC has won six straight games.
