Camels Down Anchormen, 4-0

Providence, R.I.--Freshman goalkeeper Shane Merklein (Mullica Hill, N.J.) made a career-high 10 saves as Rhode Island College lost, 4-0, vs. Connecticut College at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior midfielder Donovan Battle (Hudson, Mass.) saw a chance in the seventh minute as his long range blast just rose over the crossbar and missed.
 
• The Camels controlled possession for the majority of the first half, but neither team was unable to find the back of the net as the game went into the halftime break scoreless.
 
• The Camels wasted no time scoring in the second half, finding their breakthrough goal and eventual game-winner in the 50th minute.
 
• A minute later, they would score again off an incredible free-kick goal.
 
• The Anchormen's best chance came in the 60th minute  as sophomore midfielder Nathan Capelo's (Rumford, R.I.) shot ricocheted off the crossbar and fell to be cleared by the visitors.
 
• Conn. College dominated play once again in the second half, outshooting the hosts 29-7 for the game.
 
• The Anchormen are winless in their last seven contests (0-4-3).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Bridgewater State on Wednesday, Oct. 8 (4 p.m.).
