RIC Falls, 1-0, at VTSU Castleton in Little East Opener

Castleton, Vt.—Rhode Island College put together 10 shots, but came up unsuccessful, as the Anchorwomen fell, 1-0, vs. VTSU Castleton in the Little East women's soccer opener for both clubs at Dave Wolk Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Rhode Island College found themselves trailing, 1-0, after a goal in the 26th minute by Spartan junior forward Maggie McKearin (Proctor, Vt.) proved to be the decider. 
 
• Junior defender Grace Aukerman (Ashford, Conn.) and classmate junior forward Tayshia Cary (Wakefield, R.I.) each registered a shot on goal in the loss.
 
• Aukerman had a chance to equalize the contest in the 88th minute, but her shot was turned away by Spartan junior goalkeeper Emma Ezzo (West Haven, Vt.).
 
• RIC senior goalie Chloe Angelone (Bayville, N.Y.) stopped five in a losing effort (3-4).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at Plymouth State on Saturday, Sept. 28 (2 p.m.).
