Fox and Strain Score First Collegiate Goals in, 3-0, Win at Emerson

Boston, Mass.--Sophomore midfielder Jackson Fox (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored his first collegiate goal as Rhode Island College notched its third straight win by taking down Emerson, 3-0, at Rotch Field on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• With both teams trading shots in a scoreless first half, the scoring finally broke through in the 57th minute.
 
• Fox netted what would prove to be the game-decider off an assist from senior midfielder Anthony Recinos (Providence, R.I.).
 
• Insurance goals from junior forward Sekou Kamara (North Providence, R.I.) and freshman forward Michael Strain (West Warwick, R.I.) put the game to bed.
 
• Strain's goal was the first of his career and Kamara notched his first marker as an Anchorman.
 
• The Anchormen's back line allowed one shot on goal for the entire contest.
 
• Sophomore defender Alijah Nunes (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) and junior defender Izaiah Karweh (Providence, R.I.) both tallied assists on the day.
 
• Senior goalkeeper Wesley Perrotto (Pembroke, Mass.) faced five shots and made three saves for his first shutout win of the season (2-1-1).
 
• Recinos leads the Anchormen in points with nine (2-5-9).
 
• RIC is unbeaten in its last four games (3-0-1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play at home vs. VTSU Castleton on Saturday, Sept. 21 (1 p.m.).
