Head Softball Coach Mary Holt-Kelsch Moves on to Div. I Brown

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College Head Softball Coach Mary Holt-Kelsch has stepped down after three seasons to accept the same position at Div. I Brown.

A nationwide search for a new head coach to oversee the Anchorwomen has already commenced.

"My time at Rhode Island College was very special," Holt-Kelsch said. "I am beyond grateful for the time I have spent with an incredible coaching staff and amazing players. I know this program is destined for endless success! I would like to thank Director of Athletics Don Tencher and the athletic administration for their support during my time. I will forever be grateful for RIC Athletics."

"I want to congratulate Mary on her selection as the next coach at Brown University," Tencher stated. "I want to thank her for her efforts while here at Rhode Island College and wish her the very best and a successful tenure at Brown."

Holt-Kelsch brought the Anchorwomen softball program back to relevance in her three seasons. After taking over the program just prior to the 2022 season, she won 19 games, posted a .500 record and made a deep run in the Little East Championship during her second campaign in 2023.

The Anchorwomen took a major step forward in 2024, posting a 31-12 overall record and spending much of the season in first place before settling in a tie for second. The 31 wins were the most in a season for the program in 13 years and RIC reached the final day of the Little East Championship, knocking off the top two seeds in the process.
