Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) recorded her 1,000th career point as Rhode Island College took down MIT, 69-62, in first round action of the 2024 Anchorwomen Invitational, held at The Murray Center on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Engineers got off to a quick start as they built an eight-point, 17-9, lead within the first seven minutes of the first quarter.
• Nardolillo brought the Anchorwomen back to within three, 21-18, as she made a tough layup with 22 seconds left in the first quarter. She cracked the 1,000 point barrier with a layup with 7:51 left to go in the second frame.
• Freshman guard
Naima Bleou (Worcester, Mass.) knocked down a pair of threes in the second quarter to give RIC a five-point advantage, 34-29, at halftime.
• MIT would go on a 7-0 run to open up the second half to retake the lead, 36-34.
• With 7:11 left in regulation, sophomore guard
Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) made a layup and knocked down a jumper to even the score at 51 apiece.
• A three by junior forward
Claire Greene (Storrs, Conn.) helped RIC take the lead, which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest.
• Senior guard
Madison Medbury (Scituate, R.I.) led RIC with a game-high 19 points to go along with seven assists, three steals and three rebounds.
• Nardolillo registered 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Bleou reached a new career-high with 13 points.
• Albertus Magnus edged Bates, 68-66, in the other matchup at the tourney.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face Albertus Magnus in the finals of the 2024 Anchorwomen Invitational at The Murray Center on Saturday, Nov. 23 (4 p.m.).
