RIC Trounces Albertus Magnus, 72-50, to win Anchorwomen Invitational

Providence, R.I.—Senior guard Madison Medbury (Scituate, R.I.) was named the Most Outstanding Player and joined classmate forward Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) on the All-Tournament Team, as Rhode Island College captured the 2024 Anchorwomen Invitational title with a 72-50 win over Albertus Magnus in the final at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC ripped off the game's first 11 points as junior forward Claire Greene (Storrs, Conn.) scored five of them.
 
• The Anchorwomen were dominant defensively, allowing a mere 18 first-half points by the Falcons and held a 31-18 lead at halftime.
 
• In the third quarter, RIC would continue its dominating performance as Medbury cashed in on a three to raise the host's advantage to 20, 42-22.
 
• RIC would get notch its largest lead, 58-29, (29 points) as sophomore forward Emma Tenters (Jaffrey, N.H.) converted a layup right off the bat to start the final quarter as the hosts cruised to their third straight win.
 
• The Anchorwomen downed MIT, 69-62, while the Falcons edged Bates, 68-66, in the first round last evening to reach the final. Bates downed MIT, 76-50, in the consolation game earlier today.
 
• Medbury registered 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in the win. She averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals for the tournament.
 
• Nardolillo led the Anchorwomen with 13 points, nine rebounds and a pair of blocks. She averaged 13 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks during the invitational.
