HOW IT HAPPENED

Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) rattled off three quick buckets in the paint within the first three minutes as the Anchormen held the lead by one, 6-5.
• However, that would be the last time the hosts would lead as Amherst took control for the rest of the game.
• With 7:30 left in the first half, RIC would turn the ball over twice and the visitors capitalized to extend their lead to 10, 30-20.
• The Mammoths would go up by 15 points, 50-35, with 16:55 left in the game, thanks to a three ball by senior guard
C.J. Mitchell (Windsor, Conn.).
• Amherst built their advantage up to 21, 61-40, with just 13 minutes remaining and cruised to the win.
• Mitchell poured in 19 points to lead the visitors in the win.
• RIC would get a spark off the bench from sophomore forward
Xavier Mendez (Pawtucket, R.I.), as he dropped a career-high eight points and shot 66 percent from three-point range.
• Kourouma's night ended with 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
