Beacons Dim RIC's Six-Game Winning Streak

Providence, R.I.--Junior forward Tayla Salome (Lincoln, R.I.) scored her fifth goal in as many games as the Rhode Island College women's soccer team fell vs. UMass Boston, 2-1, in a Little East Conference game played at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen got going on offense right out of the gate as a shot from sophomore midfielder Kim Boisvert (Smithfield, R.I.) struck the crossbar in the fourth minute.
 
• Salome broke through in the seventh minute to score her fifth marker of the season to give RIC an early lead.
 
• The Beacons quickly responded in the 10th minute on a 20-yard shot by senior back Sarah Kelley (Marshfield, Mass.) to tie the game at 1-1.
 
The Beacons took control of possession in the second half, with visitors outshooting the hosts, 6-1, in the final frame.
 
• The Beacons were able to pull ahead in the 71st minute as senior back Caileigh Sullivan (Marshfield, Mass.) put home a rebound to give the Beacons the go-ahead goal.
 
• Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Nunes (Smithfield, R.I.) recorded six saves in the loss (0-2).
 
• Beacons sophomore goalkeeper Julia Cote (Baldwinville, Mass.) picked up the victory (3-0-1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel Wentworth on Wednesday, Oct. 4 (6 p.m.).
