Leopards Down Anchorwomen, 1-0

Boston, Mass.--Freshman forward Amber Almeida (Sturbridge, Mass.) recorded two shots on goal out of the team's 11 total shots as the Rhode Island College women's soccer team lost at Wentworth, 1-0, on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a rather uneventful first 10 minutes, the Leopards were able to capitalize in the 12th minute when sophomore midfielder Emily Hagen (Ellicott City, Md.) scored her first goal of the season.
 
• The two sides continued to exchange opportunities over the first half, but were unable to convert, as the Leopards took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
• In the second half, Almeida had two shots on goal over a of 60-second span, but both were thwarted by WIT freshman goalkeeper Clare Reif (Winter Springs, Fla.).
 
• The visitors continued to press the attack, but in the end were unable to put home the equalizer and suffered their second straight loss.
 
• RIC freshman goalkeeper Nicole Nunes (Smithfield, R.I.) made one save in the loss (0-3).
 
• Reif tallied four saves in the shutout victory (2-4-1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East action at Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 7 (3 p.m.).
