Jonathan Oliveira Notches Hat Trick in, 3-3, Draw at UMass Boston

Boston, Mass.--Graduate student forward Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) scored three goals to bring his season total to 11 as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team tied UMass Boston, 3-3, in a Little East matchup on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The scoring started in the 10th minute as Oliveira struck for his first of three to build a 1-0 lead for the Anchormen.
 
• The Beacons responded in the 20th minute when junior back Logan Erickson Potter (Swansea, Mass.) scored his fourth goal in three games to bring the game back to even.
 
• Oliveira scored his second of the game in the 54th minute, off an assist from junior midfielder Anthony Recinos (Providence, R.I.),  to put RIC back in the lead.
 
• Oliveira completed the hat trick for his 11th goal of the year in the 70th minute to give an important insurance goal. The assist went to senior midfielder Matthew Lopes (Cumberland, R.I.).
 
• The Beacons refused to stay down, as they scored two goals, six minutes apart, by sophomore midfielders Ryan Lima (Lynn, Mass.) and Gabriel Meireles (Everett, Mass.), respectively, to tie the game at three.
 
• Junior goalkeeper Jake Reed (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied seven saves (3-1-3).
 
• UMB junior goalkeeper JJ Devine (Halifax, Mass.) was credited with the tie as he made two saves (2-1-1).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at home vs. Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 7 (1 p.m.).
