Rhode Island College (6-2-3, 2-1-2 LEC)
Southern Maine (4-6-3, 2-2 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first half was uneventful as the two sides were strong defensively. Neither team mustered any offensive chances over the opening 45 minutes.

• The second half brought more excitement as graduate student forward Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) and freshman forward Cody Granville (Wakefield, R.I.) each had a shot in quick succession. Husky junior goalkeeper Simon Gabaree (Windham, Maine) stopped the first shot from Oliveira, while Granville's shot off the rebound was blocked.

• The Anchormen finally broke through in the 70th minute off of Guarcas' second goal of the season, in which his shot from just beyond the box found its way into the upper left corner. Freshman Cody Granville (Wakefield, R.I.) picked up his first collegiate assist on the game-winner.

• RIC anchored down defensively for the remainder of the contest and did not allow any high-danger opportunities by the Huskies to seal the victory.

• Gabaree recorded three saves in the loss (4-5-2).

• Junior goalkeeper Jake Reed (Cumberland, R.I.) only faced one shot, which was saved, to record a shutout in the winning effort (4-1-3).
