Providence, R.I.—Junior goalkeeper
Jake Reed (Cumberland, R.I.) recorded eight saves as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team downed Maine-Farmington, 3-1, in both clubs' season-opener played at Alumni Stadium on Friday afternoon.

• The Anchormen scored first in the 36
th minute when freshman forward
Cody Granville (Wakefield, R.I.) finished off a beautiful passing play to record his first collegiate goal. The assists were credited to freshman defender
Alexander Bautista (Pawtucket, R.I) and graduate student forward
Braeden Cannon (Cranston, R.I.) as the Anchormen built a 1-0 lead.
• The Anchormen would hold that lead into the second half. RIC held the lead in shots, 11-8, after 45 minutes.

th minute, junior midfielder
Anthony Recinos (Providence, R.I.) would capitalize on a great pass by graduate student forward
Jonathan Oliveira (Providence, R.I.) to double the host's lead to 2-0.
• The Beavers would respond in the 75
th minute as freshman forward
Mohamed Adow (Auburn, Maine) would successfully convert a penalty kick to cut their deficit down to one.
• Oliveira would score on a penalty kick of his own in the 87
th minute for an all-important insurance marker late in the contest.
• Granville, Recinos, and Oliveira each scored their first goals of the season.

Jack Wormald (Salisbury, N.H.) made three saves in a losing effort (0-1).
