Greene Scores Two in, 22-5, Loss vs. Plymouth State

Providence, R.I.—Freshman midfielder Claire Greene (Storrs, Conn.) scored two goals as Rhode Island College fell, 22-5, vs. Plymouth State in Little East women's lacrosse action played at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 1:33 of the first quarter before the Anchorwomen responded with strikes by Greene and sophomore midfielder Hannah Marley Tiverton, R.I.).
 
• The visitors closed out the quarter with three goals, then outscored the hosts, 7-0, in the second quarter to lead by 12, 14-2, at halftime.
 
• RIC opened the second half with two quick goals by sophomore attacker Nicolle Rosales (New Bedford, Mass.) and freshman attacker Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.).
 
• PSU scored eight goals over the final 30 minutes, while Greene tallied the final Anchorwoman marker, to secure their third league victory.
 
• RIC senior goalkeeper Shannon O'Connell (Narragansett, R.I.) stopped 11 shots in the loss (0-3). Senior defender Amara Gibau (North Providence, R.I.) had five ground balls and four draw controls.
 
• Plymouth State  sophomore attacker Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) led the Panthers with five goals and one assist for six points.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, April 18 (6 p.m.).
